Contributing to sustainable waste treatment worldwide

With the final closing on December 10, the asset deal between Kanadevia Inova AG (HZI) and Axpo Kompogas Engineering AG has entered into force, and all plant construction activities will thus be transfered to Kanadevia Inova with immediate effect. Having acquired the Kompogas technology, Kanadevia Inova now has two first-class technologies for waste-to-energy conversion. In addition to thermal solutions, it will in future also offer proven biogas facilities based on energy recovery by fermentation.

With the closing of the contractual agreements between Kanadevia Inova and Axpo on December 10, Kanadevia Inova has acquired all of the Kompogas licenses and know-how, as well as the brand. It will also be taking on the majority of the Kompogas staff, who will start work with the Zurich-based firm immediately.
With over 80 years of experience and more than 500 reference projects worldwide, Kanadevia Inova is one of the leading providers of high-end technology and turnkey plants for energy recovery from waste. Having constructed more than 70 biogas plants and with a market share of around 30%, Kompogas is just as much a leader in its own segment, anaerobic digestion (AD). “The two technologies complement each other ideally, generating energy from municipal residual and green waste respectively,” said Kanadevia Inova CEO Franz-Josef Mengede, adding: “Synergies will also be created to allow us to develop both technologies further at Kanadevia Inova.”
Two first-class technologies under one roof
In various regions around the world a trend is emerging towards the separate collection and recovery of biogenic waste. Kanadevia Inova is responding to this global development by acquiring the AD technology. The adoption of the Kompogas technology adds another first-class energy-from-waste technology to Kanadevia Inova’s portfolio, making it the first company in the world to possess both these technologies. “We’re proud that in future we’ll be able to offer our customers the best of both thermal and biological energy-from-waste solutions. This will enable us to make an important contribution to sustainable waste-to-energy conversion worldwide,” said Franz-Josef Mengede.
Kanadevia Inova will retain the Kompogas brand after the acquisition, and will continue to perform all service and maintenance for existing Kompogas plants.
