About the project

Located near Kelvedon in Essex, and built on the site of a former quarry, the Rivenhall Integrated Waste Management Facility was developed by Indaver Rivenhall Limited and designed and built by Kanadevia Inova. As one of the UK’s newest Waste-to-Energy facilities, the plant is set to deliver substantial environmental and energy benefits to the county of Essex and surrounding regions.

The plant will generate 55MW of electricity – enough to power over 125,700 UK homes.

Solution

The first WtE facility in Essex, UK

Facts:

  • Type of system: air-cooled Kanadevia Inova grate

  • Fuel: non-recyclable municipal and commercial waste

  • Calorific value: 9.3 MJ/kg

  • Number of lines: 2

  • Flue gas treatment: Dry Sorption Reactor, Fabric Filter, SNCR, Heat Exchanger, Evaporation cooler

The facility symbolizes the transition toward greater resource efficiency and innovative waste management. As a major investment in the UK’s sustainable infrastructure, the IWMF supports the circular economy by maximizing the recovery of materials and energy from non-recyclable waste.

“One thing that impressed us was Kanadevia Inova's structured approach to project management. The way you monitor and manage projects provides customers with outstanding visibility and predictability throughout the entire project lifecycle. That level of transparency is quite unique and was highly appreciated by our team.”
Karl Huts, CEO, Indaver
