Both PACs granted to Kanadevia Inova
Kanadevia Inova delivered the chute to stack part for Renergia Zentralschweiz AG’s new Waste to Energy (WtE) and has achieved the Preliminary Acceptance Certificate (PAC) for both the boiler and the flue gas treatment lots. This marks the successful completion of the project’s commissioning phase, and the WtE’s entry into full commercial operation.High energy efficiency with best technologyRenergia, a modern and environmentally friendly WtE plant was built in Perlen, close to Luzern. The construction comprised 13 main lots and Kanadevia Inova was responsible for the two chute to stack lots. The facilities supplied by Kanadevia Inova consisted of first class technology ensuring Renergia Zentralschweiz AG - a consortium of waste management associations from six cantons and the paper manufacturer Perlen Papier AG - met its targets for energy efficiency.Less fossil fuel, less CO2The contract for the two lots was agreed in April 2012 and construction began in August 2012 with the first waste feed in January 2015. This means a period of around three years from contract signature to commercial operation. The facility is set to produce 155’000 MWh of electricity per annum, will cover the energy requirements of nearly 38’000 households and supply 320’000 MWh of steam to the adjacent Perlen Papier AG. The supply to Perlen Papier AG will save more than 40 million liters of oil and thus contribute to the reduction in CO2 emissions, and significant cost saving for Perlen Papier AG.Efficient combustion and low emissionsKanadevia Inova’s lots included the provision of an innovative water-cooled grate and the new integrated combustion concept which allows both highly efficient combustion and maximum energy recovery. In addition, the five stage flue gas treatment with electrostatic precipitator, dry FGT, catalytic DeNOx, semidry FGT and dosing of coke allows efficient depollution of the flue gases to lowest emission values. Ruedi Kummer, CEO of Renergia Zentralschweiz AG, said: “With the start of commercial operation at the Renergia plant we have achieved one of the most important milestones in the construction phase of the new plant- and this was also thanks to the big contribution of Kanadevia Inova.” Kanadevia Inova CEO Franz-Josef Mengede said: “We are proud to have delivered innovative technologies with two main lots to Renergia, setting new milestones in WtE plants. It is a great pleasure for us having contributed to the latest facility constructed in Switzerland close to our main offices”.Download Media Release
