About the Project

In Gråsten in southern Denmark, local farmers jointly operate a wet digestion plant converting agricultural residues from arable and livestock farming and biogenic waste from local industry into biogas. In 2022, it was expanded to include a membrane gas upgrading system from Kanadevia Inova.

The upgrade strengthens energy independence and supports Denmark’s climate neutrality target for 2045.

Solution

Efficiently processing raw gas of varying composition

The plant upgrades biogas to biomethane using a Model M membrane system that reliably processes almost 1,000 Nm³/h of raw gas despite fluctuations in feedstock composition. Agricultural residues, deep litter, slurry, pig manure and biogenic industrial waste are converted into renewable gas, producing around 500 Nm³/h of biomethane for injection into the local gas grid.

A plug-and-play CO₂ liquefaction system can be retrofitted to capture, liquefy and market the CO₂ from the gas upgrading process.
