About the project

The Slough Multifuel facility is a state-of-the-art Waste to X plant located in the heart of a densely populated industrial estate in Berkshire, UK. Due to the limited available space and the ongoing operations of the surrounding businesses, the construction required meticulous planning and a "just-in-time" delivery system to keep the project on schedule and minimise disruption to neighbouring businesses. Thanks to precise project management and close collaboration with local partners and community stakeholders, Kanadevia Inova was able to hand over the plant to the customers SSE plc and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners ahead of schedule.

Solution

State-of-the-art cleaning systems, compliant with strict UK standards

The two-line facility transforms up to 480,000 tonnes of non-recyclable residual waste each year into reliable energy. With 92 MW of thermal power and 55 MW of electrical output, it feeds clean electricity into the National Grid while supplying low-pressure steam to a neighbouring confectionery manufacturer helping to decarbonise energy-intensive production.

Thanks to Kanadevia Inova’s advanced combustion technology, high-efficiency boilers, and flue gas cleaning designed to comply with the most stringent emission values, the facility delivers strong environmental performance and adheres to the UK’s strict emissions standards. By integrating energy supply with local industry, the project strengthens regional resource efficiency and supports a more resilient circular economy.
