About the project

Kanadevia Inova is proud to have successfully completed the design, construction, and commissioning of the Westfield Energy Recovery Facility (WERF) in Fife, Scotland. Built on the site of a former opencast coal mine, the facility marks an important step in Scotland’s transition to a low-carbon, circular economy.

Solution

Powering 100,000+ households

With the capacity to process up to 240,000 tonnes of residual, commercial and industrial waste each year, the Westfield facility converts non-recyclable materials into 24 MW of reliable baseload electricity which is fed into the UK National Grid.

At the heart of the plant are Kanadevia Inova’s proprietary reciprocating grate, high-efficiency boilers and advanced flue gas treatment systems. Together, they ensure exceptional environmental performance, full compliance with stringent emission standards and consistently high availability. Alongside its environmental impact, the facility creates long-term jobs and regional supply opportunities — supporting the local economy and reinforcing Scotland’s sustainability goals.
